Designed by Reiser + Umemoto, the multi-functional terminal would blend the uses of a port terminal, office building, and public facilities.

In general, it was expected to “ensure the continued economic viability of the port terminal, sustaining and amplifying the periodic maritime uses of the cruise terminal and ferries.”

Structurally, the proposed terminal has a curvilinear building shape and clear patterned skin, which is an artistic translation of the desert’s reflective phenomena.

In order to make the 3D printed architectural model more straightforward, RJ Models used advanced high-precision 3D printer to capture the model texture and the essence of design.

Zaha Hadid designed the Tokyo New National Stadium in her unique futuristic style. The new Tokyo Stadium resembles a baseball cap, in a defined streamlined design.

The outer skeletal shell of steel beams made up the roof and resembled a futuristic spacecraft. In order to achieve the accuracy of the component generation, RJ Models designers re-work the 3D stadium model drawing to make it more understandable and to ease the production process.

From re-drawing to the output of the components for a 3D printed architectural model in Japan, the error tolerance must not be more than a millimeter. The color used on the 3D printed architectural model plays a decisive role.

It was requested by SOM to further depict the key features of this new planned area and its potential for the city development.

This large-scale 3D printed model helps to confirm the role of Pukou International R&D Park at the very forefront of Nanjing’s rapidly changing. Using monochrome materials, this conceptual 3D printed model was made in several separated parts and then joined together to form a complete display.

Planned to be constructed in the Easter Elchies estate and designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, the Edrington of Macallan new distillery would feature ‘one of the most complicated timber roof structures worldwide’. The dramatic and awe-inspiring design idea came from the hilly landscape.

Since 3D printer can easily print curved rooflines and smooth surfaces, it has not been an arduous challenge for RJ Models to accurately 3D printing the unprecedented rooftop, which in reality, designed to be grass-covered and would comprise 380,000 individual components.

The contours were 3D printed and overlaid to match the exact elevations of the site. The surrounding landscape was also emulated, with subtle white-painted trees inserted prudentially, to showcase how the new distillery will be accommodated on this sloping site.
