Massing\u00a0models represent those\u00a0that focus on the massing of architecture, not\u00a0its structural detail, building material, color, or facade.<\/p>\n

Massing is a term used in architecture. It refers to the perception of the general shape and form as well as the size of a building.<\/p>\n

Kai Tak Development is an urban renewal plan in Hong Kong, including government buildings, community facilities, residential areas, commercial areas, etc.<\/div>\n

Although its scale has reached 1:2000, the entire model still occupies an area of nearly 10 square meters.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the massing model, we can see that the stone wharf originally built with granite is not only a wharf but also a historical landmark.<\/div>\n

Our model makers use numerous tan blocks to represent the societies around Kai Tak.<\/p>\n

The model experts also install a gorgeous lighting system for the massing model, using white light strips to curve the coastline and docks, and warm yellow lights to express the road system.<\/p>\n

Commissioned by KPF Architects, this\u00a0massing model of the master plan \u00a0<\/a>demonstrates\u00a0RJ Models’ unique aesthetic\u00a0in the model-making industry.<\/p>\n

Model experts from RJ Models use gray and translucent materials throughout the model making process.<\/p>\n

They select gray acrylic blocks to represent the non – core parts and frosted translucent acrylic blocks to display the core area.<\/div>\n

The buildings in gray show only geometric shapes without adding too many details.<\/div>\n

3. Massing model for TaiPei<\/h3>\n

This massing model represents the Taipei 101 Tower and its surrounding area.<\/p>\n

Our architectural model builders<\/a> choose timber plates and blocks to produce the buildings in the model.<\/p>\n

Even the base is a thick plank with the same material. The iconic Taipei 101 building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade extends upward like a bamboo stalk. Besides, other buildings are simple cuboid blocks without any decoration.<\/div>\n

The eye – catching part of this model is the detachable building in the most central position.<\/div>\n

\u201cShek O\u201d,\u00a0which\u00a0literally means\u00a0\u201crocky bay\u201d.in Cantonese,\u00a0is a peninsula on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island, facing the South China Sea\u00a0and surrounded by Shek O Country Park, Big Wave Bay, and Cape D\u2019Aguilar.<\/p>\n

Because of its excellent location and unbeatable view, world-renowned design companies have built tremendous villas for it.<\/p>\n

With many times of successful cooperation experiences, RJ Models\u2019 client Forster + Partners commission this villa massing model<\/a> to us.<\/p>\n

This villa is a completely modern style.\u00a0Therefore,\u00a0our model experts use straight cut\u00a0edge\u00a0blocks for its main body and dramatic swimming pool in the front.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0surrounding mountains\u00a0are full of\u00a0plants and grass.\u00a0We\u00a0use\u00a0curves such as contour lines in geography to express changes in the\u00a0terrain.<\/p>\n

5. Model for Murray Road by Forster + Partners<\/h3>\n

Scale: 1: 500\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Size: 1000mm x 800mm\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Production Time: 3 weeks<\/strong><\/p>\n

This massing model is Murray Road in Hong Kong, which serves as a boundary between Admiralty and Central.<\/p>\n

In this model, you can see many well-known buildings in the area.<\/p>\n

For example,\u00a0the Bank of China headquarters designed by I.M. Pei, and the Murry Building renovated by Forster + Partners.<\/p>\n

\"Model<\/a><\/p>\n

Our model makers\u00a0pre-entered\u00a0the\u00a0terrain of this area\u00a0into\u00a0the electronic system\u00a0and\u00a0engraved it\u00a0perfectly\u00a0through\u00a03D printing.\u00a0There is no need for any subsequent polishing.<\/p>\n

For example,\u00a0adding rhombic patterns on\u00a0massing of the Bank of China headquarters to simulate its actual diamond-shaped glass facade.<\/p>\n

6. Model Architecture for Nanjing in China<\/h3>\n

The Shimao G11 project, designed by Woods Bagot, RBS, and Forster, is another new landmark in Nanjing.<\/p>\n

The project consists of two high-rise buildings for\u00a0offices and a podium for \u00a0\u00a0a commercial center.<\/p>\n

There\u00a0are abundant curves in the podium part.\u00a0Therefore\u00a0model makers combine 3D printing and laser cutting technology to ensure that the model and the drawing are indistinguishable.<\/p>\n

In addition, since\u00a0the main model material is timber, which is rigid and easy to break.<\/p>\n

Therefore,\u00a0the performance of the fa\u00e7ade structure of the office buildings <\/a>at 1\/20 scale\u00a0poses challenges to the model makers.<\/p>\n

7. Massing model for Jakarta by SOM<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This is a transit-oriented development master plan for the Indonesian capital Jakarta,\u00a0designed\u00a0by the world-renowned architectural design company, SOM.<\/p>\n

RJ Models produces the massing model of the site for SOM.<\/p>\n

We used white PVC panels for\u00a0the base and architectures, and added some pale-green\u00a0trees along the roads for decoration.<\/p>\n

\"Model<\/a><\/p>\n

In order to represent the real scene effectively, our model making experts from RJ Models use a CNC carving machine for the window frame part on the facade of the diamond-shaped buildings and use a 3D printer<\/a> to make the massing of the arc-shaped building.<\/p>\n

The entire massing model is placed on a circular base with a diameter of 1.8 meters.<\/p>\n

And decoration parts\u00a0with\u00a0Morandi colors, like river and landscape, which endows\u00a0the entire massing model a very harmonious feeling.<\/p>\n
